Marva Solomon is an Associate Professor of Teacher Education at Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas. Her publications and research interests include digital storytelling with young children, African American storytelling, primary-age writers, and the use of iPads with emergent bilingual learners. As more of the university’s courses go digital, she is also interested in how professors build community and camaraderie into online courses. Recently she has been enthralled with how adult readers of series like Game of Thrones and Outlander use social media to express their passion for books. She is the director of the Pearl of the Concho Writing Project, one of ten National Writing Project sites in the state of Texas. The Pearl of the Concho Writing Project holds annual summer camps for teachers and youngsters. A key goal of the camps is to encourage teachers and kids to use technology to enhance writing.
