Lee Skallerup Bessette is a Learning Design Specialist at the Center for New Designs for Learning and Scholarship at the Georgetown University, specializing in the intersections of technology, pedagogy, and collaborative learning.

She has worked primarily in public higher education for almost 20 years, in two countries and four states, primarily at regional, teaching-focused universities, before moving into faculty development and educational technology.

Lee received her PhD in Comparative Literature in 2007 from the University of Alberta, and her research has always been concerned with the idea of writing, rewriting, adapting, and translating. Technology can deepen these kinds of relationships between readers, writers, teachers, students, and other audiences. That interest informs her interactions with students and faculty, as well as her pedagogy.
