Laura Summers, PhD, is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Learning Design and Technology in the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Colorado Denver. Summers has led the school library certificate, endorsement, and master’s program since 2006. She also currently coordinates professional workshops for the Office of Continuing Professional Education and serves as a faculty member for the EdD program. From 2006-2011, Summers was an assistant tenure-track professor who returned to K-12 education for eight years in the district management roles as an instructional coach administrator, district library coordinator, director of educator effectiveness, and director of professional learning for a large urban school district. Summer’s current research about measuring for professional learning has been supported through grant-funded communities of practice. She has also served as a board member for Front Range BOCES, a member of the Colorado Department of Education Media Literacy Advisory Committee, and as an educational advisory board member of Clyfford Stills Museum.
