Jacinta Yanders is a PhD candidate in the Department of English at The Ohio State University. While her love of books (#TeamJudyBlume) initially drew her to English, she now primarily studies television, film, and popular culture. In particular, her dissertation analyzes television remakes in which elements of characters’ identities (such as race, gender, and sexuality) have been changed, with an eye toward how such changes impact production, narrative, and reception. After being an attendee in 2015, Jacinta subsequently served as a Technology Consultant and a Social Media Specialist for the Digital Media and Composition Institute (DMAC) at OSU, all of which fostered her growing interest in digital pedagogy. Having committed to the teaching profession at the ripe age of 7, Jacinta often seeks opportunities to develop as an educator and regularly writes about her teaching on her blog Teach to Learn/Learn to Teach.
