Francesca Sobande is a lecturer (Cardiff University, UK), researcher and writer who explores issues concerning identity, intersecting inequalities, media and the marketplace. Her work includes writing on YouTube and the experiences of Black women in Britain (European Journal of Cultural Studies), the notion of ‘(un)intentional intersectional feminist resistance’ (Journal of Applied Social Theory), and aspects of transnational digital blackness (Consumption Markets and Culture). Francesca’s teaching expertise and approach is rooted in critical and digital pedagogical practice. She is author of the monograph The Digital Lives of Black Women in Britain (2020, Palgrave Macmillan), and is also co-editor with Professor Akwugo Emejulu of To Exist is to Resist: Black Feminism in Europe (2019, Pluto Press).
