In 2017, as a response to the travel ban enacted by Donald Trump, Digital Pedagogy Lab and Kwantlen Polytechnic University hosted an alternate gathering for those who could not travel to the United States.

In 2017, as a response to the travel ban enacted by Donald Trump, Digital Pedagogy Lab teamed with Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Vancouver, British Columbia, to host an alternate gathering for those who could not or did not wish to travel to the United States. The event featured keynotes from Rusul Alrubail and Digital Pedagogy Lab co-founder, Jesse Stommel.

In 2017, DPL Vancouver faculty offered three tracks, while the remarkable Sherri Spelic set the tone with special morning exercises.
